What is Project URB.?
ProjectUrb. is a project dedicated to innovating things people love. Our first mission is to create our own marketplace platform.
About Our Marketplace Platform
Have you ever gone to FaceBook, Myspace, Twitter, eBay or Amazon? Ever noticed the design and complexity of the webpage? All of those businesses run on platforms, or advanced webpages.
We are launching a marketplace platform. Similar to eBay & Amazon, but completely unique. Our marketplace platform is a groundbreaking, underground network. Our marketplace platform has the upper-edge on online retail stores and will include hundreds of underground brands along with plenty of fresh new brands, unique to our marketplace.
We plan on having local opportunities for new companies to get involved in our emerging marketplace. No longer are the days of having to wait for a large company to accept your ideas, just to have then twist and turn your creative works into something not your own. We believe in local communities and the work that can be created by young, ambitious individuals.
Why We Chose Kickstarter
With the challenge of building a marketplace platform, money is definitely an issue. Having a platform capable of handling intense traffic doesn’t come cheap. Formal funding (Banks & Loans) requires lengthy forms and intense requirements which disadvantages small startups.
Kickstarter is a crowd-funding website dedicated to promoting independent ideas. The process of Kickstarter involves creating a profile and listing your project. Once listed, your project goes live to the Kickstarter community which can now choose to “back” your project.
On Kickstarter, there are rewards given to people for backing your project. For example, if we were to ask someone to pledge $25 to our project, they would be given the opportunity to get something in return for their pledge, whether it be access to the platform before launch or ProjectURB merchandise. With each increasing pledge, the reward is larger and larger.
The main reason why we use Kickstarter is because of its functionality. Kickstarter has a “Full-Fund or No-Fund” policy. If we set a goal of raising $250,000 and the complete amount of pledges only amounts to $249,999, our backers don’t get charged and our project is not funded. Whenever someone pledges a certain amount, their card is not charged unless the project is fully funded. With a system like that, people tend to trust you more.
About Our Goal
In order for us to build our platform, we need support!
We have to raise over $200,000 USD to fund this project and we’ve resorted to the Kickstarter & Internet communities. In the money raised, we’ll be producing the platform, a documentary and we’ll have some celebratory parties especially for our supporters!
The more money we can raise, the faster we can launch our platform and the faster we can include more languages.
